WHAT ACTIVITIES CAN THE CITADEL RESTORE IN STAGE 2 OF REOPENING?

As per re-opening guidelines from the Government of Alberta, we are allowed to open with up to one-third of fire code occupancy; however, for the safety of our patrons, we are continuing with socially-distanced festival seating, for our initial shows. We are also able to hold wedding ceremonies for up to 20 attendees. 

Our Foote Theatre School is planning to hold in-person summer camps and classes while following all provincial and AHS guidelines and restrictions. The health and safety of our students, staff and families is our paramount concern.

WHEN CAN WE EXPECT TO HEAR ABOUT THE NEW DATES FOR THE SHOWS THAT HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED?

IS THERE ASSIGNED SEATING?

For Heaven and Mary’s Wedding: A Métis Love Story we will have festival seating, which is socially distanced general admission. As we look at the evolving situation, we will review seating plans as needed.

It is our intention that shows following will have assigned seating with additional options available.

WHAT IS THE CITADEL DOING TO MAKE THE THEATRE SAFE FOR PATRONS, TEAM MEMBERS AND ARTISTS?

We are working with the Citadel team, government resources, and local organizations to ensure we are addressing any facility and/or process changes that might be required to create a safe and welcoming environment. This includes increased, rigorous cleaning of touch points across the building, hand sanitization and washing stations available for use, mandatory masks for staff, patrons, and artists when off stage, protective barriers between staff and patrons, reduced capacity in our theatre houses, reduced public access to the building, and many other measures, small and large, that we are taking to keep everyone safe.

DO I NEED TO WEAR A MASK?

Masks are strongly encouraged to be worn when attending the Citadel.

WHAT CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO TAKING TICKETS?

We have updated our ticketing system to allow for a digital copy of tickets to be emailed to you directly. Tickets can either be printed off at home or scanned from your phone. If you do not have access to print your tickets or do not wish to use your phone, the Box Office can print paper tickets for you when they arrive at the Citadel. We kindly ask for you to plan to arrive 30 minutes before the performance start time if a paper ticket is required.  

HAS THE GOVERNMENT SUPPORTED THE CITADEL DURING THE CLOSURE AND RE-OPENING?

We are very grateful for all of our stakeholders from all levels of government. The Federal Government programs have assisted us in supporting staff members returning to work, and the grants provided to us have been vital to supporting the ongoing infrastructure costs. However, because we have lost a number of programs that traditionally generate revenue and we still must pay for the operating costs of our facility, these expenses will outweigh the funding that we have received. Your continued support of the Citadel is always appreciated.

WHAT CAN I DO TO SUPPORT THE CITADEL?

WHY IS THE CITADEL NOT OFFERING REFUNDS FOR THE RESCHEDULED SHOWS?

We have already begun to reach out to current ticket holders with options for exchanging tickets. To preserve the continued existence of the theatre, we will need to rely on this policy for rescheduled programming. Our programming is a result of a very substantial investment and years of planning. Our ticket sales assist in recouping some, but not all, of those costs so we can continue planning and building productions. If we were to refund tickets the reality is that we would have not been able to financially survive the closure and continue to provide new programming. We greatly appreciate the trust and patience patrons have shown keeping their tickets with us for the past year. Our aim is to offer full value for the tickets you have bought, but in specific cases, we can make exceptions to our no-refund policy.

WHAT IF ONE OF THE SHOWS FOR WHICH I HAVE TICKETS HASN’T BEEN RESCHEDULED?

If you are holding tickets to a performance that will not be rescheduled, you will automatically receive options for a new show being offered this season. Again, we promise to work with you to find value for your tickets.

CAN PATRONS LEAVE THE THEATRE DURING THE SHOW? 

We strongly encourage that you do not leave in order to preserve physical distancing in the theatre. If you must leave for any reason, you will be reseated in latecomer seating, should space be available.

WHAT ABOUT LATECOMERS?

Although we do encourage you to plan your trip to arrive at least 30 minutes before the doors open a handful of seating groups will be reserved for latecomers; however, these seats cannot be guaranteed. 

WILL PROGRAMS/PLAYBILLS BE AVAILABLE?

Programs/playbills will be available digitally to prevent touchpoints. A URL link as well as a QR code direct link will be sent in the reminder emails prior to the show, as well as on signage throughout the lobby. No physical programs/playbills will be printed at this time.

IS THERE COAT CHECK?

No. In order to reduce touchpoints as well as reduce contact between persons, we will not be offering a coat check at this time.

WILL YOU BE OFFERING BAR SERVICES AND HOW DO I CONSUME MY BEVERAGES?

Yes! Bar will be serving all standard beverages, as we have been in previous years. All drinks purchased from the Bar will be served with a disposable straw placed through our Citadel Sippy Cups. We ask that you place your straw under your mask in order to keep yourself and others safe while enjoying your favourite beverage. We will temporarily stop accepting sippy cup returns at the bars to reduce contact points.
