Jasmine Bedingfield Young Acting Company
Jasmine is a recent graduate of Victoria School of the Arts where she studied performance through the advanced acting, dance, and directing programs. Throughout her time in highschool, she has had the pleasure of studying under Scott Swan, Jonathan Christenson, and Fernanda Prata, has performed most notably as Anne and Claudia in Victoria School’s Listen to the Wind, and has been involved in a number of other main-stage and student directed works. Jasmine’s passion lies in film, and is excited to be joining the 2018/19 Young Acting Company season to further develop her film-based performance vernacular.
Zac Bellward Young Acting Company
I’ve been attending Victoria School since first going there in Grade 7. I’ve performed in a variety of productions here including Chip in Beauty and The Beast, Baby John in West Side Story, and most recently Donkey in Shrek: The Musical. As much as acting holds a major part in my life, singing and music have always been a big part of it as well. I became active in the Kokopelli choir organization very early on at the age of 8, performing in a variety of shows, festivals, and workshops, and I currently participate in the Jazz Choir at my school.
Ben Kuchera Young Acting Company
Ben Kuchera is a recent graduate of St. Albert Catholic High School. He began acting as a child at the Foote Theatre School. His passion for acting was ignited in high school through the drama program where he took on the roles of Mr. Ogmore in Under Milkwood, Sid in Vimy, and most recently Winston Smith in 1984 . This summer Ben was a part of the Citadels summer Acting Intensive, where he studied and performed in the play Columbinus. Ben looks forward to furthering his experience and knowledge of the art, and is excited to start working and growing alongside his fellow actors.
Elise Leske Young Acting Company
Elise is thrilled to be part of the 2018/19 Young Acting Company. She is currently completing her final year at Strathcona High School, and was most recently seen with Scona Theatre Co. in The Drowning Girls (Bessie) and in Footloose (Urleen). She was also seen in Festival Players’ production of Anne of Green Gables (Miss Stacy/Mrs. Blewett/Mrs. Pye). Active in improvised theatre, Elise performed in the 2017/18 season of the Northern Alberta Improv League. She continues to pursue vocal training with Kim Mattice Wanat, and is excited for this opportunity to improve her skills as an artist.
Landon Nesbitt Young Acting Company
Landon is beyond excited to be a part of Young Companies this year! Landon is a recent graduate of Victoria School of the Arts where he was involved in their advanced acting and directing programs, as well as numerous productions. Recent credits include Upright (Edmonton Fringe); Waning Crescent Moon, Listen to the Wind, and Here and Now (Victoria School of the Arts). He recently made his directing debut with Summer at the Lake through Victoria Schools directing program. Landon can’t wait to use this incredible opportunity to learn and grow immensely this year while having tons of fun along the way!
Heeyun Park Young Acting Company
Heeyun is a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance student at the University and is ecstatic to be a part of the Young Acting Company. She trained as a singer all her life and found her ambition for theatre later on. She started acting by taking classes at the Foote Theatre School and is excited to continue working on both disciplines. Through the University’s Opera Workshop, she has performed the principle role of Princesse Laoula (L’etoile) and Cis (Albert Herring). This past Fringe she played Snow White in the musical, The Ever After. She has performed as a soloist at the Winspear and is also a member of the Edmonton Opera chorus.
Sarah Proctor Young Acting Company
Sarah is a recent graduate of W.P. Wagner and is thrilled to be entering her next chapter as part of the Young Acting Company. During her three years at Wagner, Sarah was heavily involved in their theatre program. Her acting credits include Marianne in Constellations, Sarah in East of Berlin, Carrie in Elegy, and most recently, Julia in Wagner’s mainstage production of George Orwell’s 1984 . Sarah was also a member of W.P. Wagner’s improv team. She cannot wait to see what this year has in store!
Warren Suggitt Young Acting Company
Warren Suggitt is a recent graduate of Victoria School of the Arts and has been a part of many theatre oriented programs. Warren has always had a passion for performing, choosing to enrol himself in the Citadel’s Foote Theatre School in both 2009 and 2010 as well as taking the advanced acting and directing courses at Victoria School of the Arts. Warren’s recent work at Victoria School of the Arts includes performing in shows such as Listen to the Wind, Julia, West Side Story, Lurker, and The Talking Dog. Warren played a lead role in Frank and Ollie, a play done for Next Fest 2016, and has also directed one act play, Dump, for the Victoria School of the Arts Directing Program. Fresh out of high school, Warren is excited to take new steps and face new challenges.
Nick van Herwaarden Young Acting Company
Nick is thrilled to be joining the Citadel Theatre’s Young Acting Company for the 2018/19 season. A recent graduate of Victoria School of the Arts, Nick has acted in several of their productions, some of which include Big Fish: The Musical, West Side Story, and Shrek: The Musical. Other credits include Evangeline (Citadel Theatre), and The Helmet of Horror (2017 Edmonton Fringe Festival). During his last year at Vic, Nick directed a one-act play entitled The Blue Room, which greatly expanded his knowledge and appreciation for theatre as a whole. Nick is excited to spend a year learning and growing as an actor.
Austin White Young Acting Company
Since a young age, Austin has been interested in acting, and his younger self would be thrilled to hear he gets to explore that interest in Young Companies. Throughout junior high and high school, he acted as well as picking up skills in directing, technical theatre, and improv. His favourite production credits include East of Berlin by Hannah Moscovitch, and Caroline Bird’s version of The Trojan Women. He is thankful to develop his craft and work with new Edmonton based artists to grow together.
Jared Wonago Young Acting Company
Jared Wonago is an Edmonton based actor/improvisor and he is absolutely thrilled to be apart of the young acting companies 2018/2019 season. Some of his previous acting credits include Tracks by Mac Brock (various), Sweat by Lynn Nottage (Chris), Our Countrys Good by Timberlake Wertenbaker (Black Caesar), and one border line corny boxing day commercial for The Brick (caroller #6). Jared is currently is a player with Rapid Fire Theatre, where he performs weekly improv shows in the Citadel’s Zeidler Hall. Other theatres his preformed improv in include Instant Theatre in Vancouver, Montreal improv in Montreal and The Groundlings Theatre in Los Angeles. Jared looks forward to growing his theatrical abilities this year and is quite excited to do it with his young company piers!
Sanam Banahi Young Musical Company
Sanam is thrilled and honoured to be a part of the 2018/19 Young Musical Company! Performing has been a huge part of her life, she loves entertaining others. Sanam recently graduated J.H. Picard, where she participated in many productions, including Alice, Annie, West Side Story, and Life of Galileo. She is very eager to work with so many talented young actors is looking forward to her first year at the University of Alberta.
Emily Bergeron Young Musical Company
Emily is ecstatic to be part of the Young Musical Company again after participating in the program in 2016! She has loved to perform her whole life and is excited to continue her training this coming year. Emily has appeared in Peter Pan (Festival Place); Legally Blonde (Foote Theatre School); The Great All American Musical Disaster (Mother Margret Mary High School); Side Show (Citadel Theatre), Lion in the Streets (MacEwan University); and Sondheim on Sondheim (MacEwan University). Emily is excited to learn all she can from Young Companies, and to grow as a performer.
Daphne Charrois Young Musical Company
Daphne is elated to be joining the Citadel Young Musical Company this season. Currently in her graduating year at Morinville Community High School, Daphne has followed her passion in singing, dance, and theatre and is planning to pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre. She has participated in Cappies' Chorus and is the holder of the 2018 Cappie Award for Outstanding Performance by Lead Actress in a Musical. Select credits include James and the Giant Peach (James); Emma! A Pop Musical (Emma); Seussical (Gertrude McFuzz); Into the Woods (Little Red Riding Hood); and an upcoming role in The Sound of Music. Daphne is thrilled to work with other talented artists and further her craft this year.
Jason Dauvin Young Musical Companies
Jason is thrilled to be a part of the 2018-19 Musical Company! Being a recent graduate from Leduc Composite High School, Jason has been involved in their musical theatre and advanced acting program, allowing him to perform in shows such as Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The Drowsy Chaperone. Jason has attended Theatre Alberta's Artstrek Summer Program for the past four years, and has also been a vocal student at Visionary Center for the Performing Arts for the past three years. Jason can't wait to grow as an artist and work with so many bright minds!
Sasha Khan Young Musical Company
Sasha is beyond ecstatic to be a part of this year's Young Musical Company! As a St. Albert based actress and grade twelve student, she has many credits with St. Albert Children's Theatre, which she had been a part of since 2012, and Paul Kane High School's drama program. Her recent credits include Junie B. Jones, It's a Wonderful Life, Elf the Musical (St. Albert Children's Theatre), as well as Les Misérables and The Little Mermaid (Paul Kane Theatre). Sasha is very excited for what is to come this year!
Larissah Lashley Young Music Company
Larissah Lashley is a young woman who strives for excellence in every area of her life. Recently graduated, Victoria School of the Arts has helped her grow as an artist and a human. Victoria performing credits include Once on This Island (Storyteller); West Side Story (Francisca); and Shrek (The Dragon). Larissah has also taken on production roles as choreographer, stage manager, and director. She has trained from Cornelius Carter (University of Alabama), Jess Williams (Frantic Assembly), and Merri Sugarman (Tara Rubin CSA) to name a few. With grace and humility, Larissah is excited to see what her future holds.
Michael Long Young Musical Company
Michael Long has been studying as a theatre artist for almost half of his life. Recently he has started to study dance and movement as well, getting involved with multiple programs and productions with Toy Guns Dance Theatre including the shows Narcissist or Pretty Boys who Play Alone at Recess, and Romeo and Juliet . Before that he trained with the Foote Theatre School and Strathcona High School’s drama program, allowing him to participate in musical productions such as The Addams Family, Rent, and Bring It On. He also recently staged his first piece of choreography with Strathcona’s dance showcase, Paradigm.
Logan MacNeill Young Musical Company
This is Logan’s first year in the Citadel Theatres Young Musical Company for the duration of the 2018/19 season and he is excited to experience all that this program has to offer. Having being a recent graduate from Salisbury Composite High school, during his time at Salisbury he started to develop a deep interest into Musical Theatre performing as roles such as Jacob in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Edward Markley in Radium Girls. He is very grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to see what the year brings!
Haley Rodermond Young Musical Company
Haley is honoured to be a part of the 2018/19 Young Musical Company! Making her debut as a child in the living room, she has since moved on to bigger and better stages as Janet Van De Graaff in the The Drowsy Chaperone, Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray, and Sandy Olsson in Grease. Haley is looking forward to learning and growing throughout her participation in the program as she continues to pursue her passions.
Malika Shourie Young Musical Company
Malika Shourie is starting her first year with Young Companies as a part of musical theatre. She has also been a part of Scona Theatre Co.’s production of Bring It On: The Musical as a part of the ensembles dance crew, and Footloose: The Musical as dance captain for which she won a cappie for best female dancer. She has also played the role of Lucy Law in The Fourth Graders Present an Unnamed Love-Suicide. This past year Malika had also been a part of NextFest for she was in a dance named Stellar and a play called Crazed Hotel. She is very grateful to be a part of Young Company this year and hopes to continue to gain experience in musical theatre!
Logan Stefura Young Musical Company
Logan is incredibly excited to join the Young Musical Company for the 2018/19 year. He recently graduated from Victoria School of the Arts and is thrilled to continue his education in theatre. Past credits include: Shrek the Musical (VSA); The Little Mermaid (SPA Drama); Madagascar: A Musical Adventure, A Seussified Christmas Carol, and The Nutcracker Sings (SACT). Logan has also created dog puppets for Vic’s production of Listen to the Wind and was most recently the assistant stage manager for SATCO and Uniform Theatre’s production of Xanadu at the Edmonton Fringe. He is immensely grateful for the opportunity to continue his learning about the thing he loves.
Julie Sucie Young Musical Company
Julie participated in the theatre program at Strathcona High School and was last seen in Strathcona Theatre Co.’s production of Footloose, as Vi Moore. Previously, she was in Bring It On and 13: The Musical . Julie enjoyed being in the dance and drama programs at school. She was honored to be a part of the Cappies Chorus and enjoyed participating in the Citadel’s acting and musical theatre intensives. Julie is currently studying at the U of A to become a drama teacher and can’t wait to see what the future brings.
Morgan Thomas Young Musical Company
Morgan Thomas is absolutely thrilled to be a part of Citadel’s Young Musical Company for the 2018/19 season. As a recent graduate from Archbishop MacDonald High School, Morgan is ready to take on each experience she gets. In the past, she has had the experience of participating in many shows and was able to play a wide range of characters such as, Veronica Sawyer in Heathers: The High School Edition, Cora/Dance Captain in Thoroughly Modern Millie, and even a Gangster in Kiss Me Kate. Words cannot describe how grateful and ecstatic Morgan is for this experience, and she cannot wait to see what is in store for the future.
Emma Walker Young Musical Company
Emma is beyond excited to be participating in this year's Young Musical Company. Emma recently graduated Strathcona High School, where she had the opportunity to perform in Footloose as Ethel McCormack, Tuesdays and Sundays as Mary Tuplin. She also directed Any Night for the OneActs festival. Other credits include The Diary of Anne Frank as Margot Frank, and The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds as Janice Vickory. Emma is so very grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow within such an amazing program!
Britney Alvarez Young Theatre Production Company
Britney is thrilled and honored to be a part of the Citadel’s Young Theatre Production Company. After taking a year off she is very excited to dive back into the theatre arts, as it is one of her biggest passions. While attending W.P Wagner High School, Britney was a part of many productions including stage managing Grace, All in the Past, and Constellations. She also worked as a crew member for The Trojan Women and A Delightful Quarantine. Britney is looking forward to learning and growing with the Citadel, gaining an unforgettable experience.
Daniela Fernandez Young Theatre Production Company
Daniela Fernandez is a recent graduate from MacEwan University’s Theatre Arts Program. Her acting credits include City of Angels, Love and Information, Sister Act, Theory of Relativity, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, In the Heights, Tartuffe, Cabaret and The Visit. As much as she loves performing, she now wants to explore the technical side of theatre. With a focus on pursuing sound design, she hopes to not only grow as an artist but also to combine her two passions of theatre and music. She is thrilled to be joining the 2018/19 Young Theatre Production Company and cannot wait to explore the world behind the scenes!
Sarah Jackson Young Theatre Production Company
Sarah is an Edmonton-based writer, stage manager, and director, currently pursuing a BCS in Professional Communications at Grant MacEwan. Originally Sarah started her theatre experience on stage, but was quickly pulled into the magical world of technical theatre! Recent credentials include 1984, as well as Vimy, where she was nominated in the Edmonton Cappies for Outstanding Achievement in Stage Management both years, taking home the Cappie for Vimy. Sarah cannot wait to grow and learn at the Citadel this year!
Sarah Marlow Young Theatre Production Company
Sarah is is currently a student at the University of Alberta, double-majoring in drama and sociology. She has been blessed with the opportunity to pursue several theatre projects in high school, including The Ballad of Martha Brown (2016), and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (2017). Her recent credits include assistant stage managing for Walterdale’s production of Water Beneath Her Feet, as well as apprenticing for ABBEDAM’s production of LovePlay. She is absolutely thrilled with the opportunity she has been given to study under such dynamic professionals at the Citadel Theatre.
Seb Santoro Young Theatre Production Company
Seb Santoro began his informal education in theatre in high school. He began taking drama and acting courses, and by grade eleven he decided to focus solely on directing. Seb participated in three PlayWorks festivals, a student-directed one act play festival produced annually at Victoria School of the Arts. He has acted, assistant directed, assistant stage managed, and in his final year of high school; directed his own production. Seb is currently enrolled at the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Science, and aspires to pursue technical theatre production in the coming years.
Isabella Fernandez-Li Young Playwriting Company
Currently enrolled in her grade twelve year at Victoria School of the Arts, saying Isabella is excited to be a part of the Young Playwriting Company would be an understatement. First introduced to the wild, wonderful world of playwriting through her school’s TheatreBlitz 2016/17 Program, under the mentorship of Vern Thiessen, she has been hooked ever since! With her passion for playwriting now realized, she is nothing but eager to improve her skills. Along with spending copious amounts of time rewriting a single line of dialogue, she also enjoys singing, acting, oh — and writing about herself in third person.
Spencer Gilchrist Young Playwriting Company
Spencer is a local director, playwright, and storyteller in various capacities. He is thrilled to be part of the Citadel's Young Playwriting Company! Spencer wrote his first script in eighth grade and from there his love of theatre grew. Recently, he put a show on in the Edmonton Fringe Festival called Hey, Princess! He has also written numerous other plays and musicals. He is currently a drama student in the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Education and aspires to stay involved in the theatre community, and continue to grow as both a director and playwright.
Jenna Jadischke Young Playwriting Company
Jenna is elated to be expanding her love of theatre with the Young Playwriting Company. After spending her youth on stage, Jenna discovered her preference for writing over acting. Her original one act, Sandbox Cities was presented at the Zone II West Drama Festival in 2015, winning the award for Outstanding Achievement in an Original Script in the drama category. She cannot wait to absorb the expertise of industry professionals this year.
Andrew Schroeder Young Playwriting Company
Andy is currently a grade eleven student attending Victoria School of the Arts. He has been writing from a young age and has recently found a passion for theatre. Andy has acted in school productions and participated in TheaterBlitz (Victoria School of the Arts). He has also taken part in classes such as Foote Theatre School's Shakespeare in Performance (Citadel Theatre) and Act Up! (St. Albert Children’s Theater). Andy is thrilled by this opportunity to expand on his skills as a writer and is looking forward to this coming season.
Emma Wilmott Young Playwriting Company
Emma is thrilled to be back in the Young Companies, this time in the Young Playwriting Company! In addition to studying at the University of Alberta, Emma is a recent alumna of Citadel Theatre’s Young Acting Company. Emma had her new work, Blender Juice, read at NextFest 2018. Recent acting credits includes Freewill Shakespeare Puppet Shows (Thou Art Here, Freewill Shakespeare Festival); Peter Quince in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Citadel Theatre); The Girl from Another World/Choreographer in Bountiful (Dammitammy Productions); and Ruth in The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds (Plain Jane Theatre).
