Participants in this master class will be guided in an exploration of one classical play and one contemporary work written by a woman. Topics will include: how to prepare a rehearsal, how to break down a text, and how to lead a rehearsal process that is exploratory and alive. The class will also address the issue of authority versus collaboration, which is often paramount for women directors: women must find their own voices and their own method of setting up parameters in the room in a way that feels true to them but allows them to shape the work effectively so that their own visions can be realized.
