    A Regina native, Omar is ecstatic to make his Citadel and RMTC debuts with the cast of The Color Purple. He recently closed the Drayton Entertainment production of 12 Angry Men in Ontario. Last winter, he was proud to be a part of the extremely successful production of The Hockey Sweater at the National Arts Centre. Omar is also very grateful to have performed in The Lion King and The Lord of the Rings with Mirvish Productions.

    Michael-Lamont Lytle is proud to be making his Citadel/RMTC debut in this production of The Color Purple. Since moving to Canada from Ohio, Michael-Lamont has had the honor of performing with everyone from Celine Dion to Cirque du Soleil. Michael-Lamont was an original Canadian cast member of both Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King and the original French-Canadian cast of Chicago. Michael-Lamont dedicates this and all future performances to his husband D’Arcy and his mother Barbara.

    Maiko recently played the role of Emma Jones in Strike! The Musical at Rainbow Stage. Other roles she has previously played include Mimi in Rent, as well as B.J. in Smokey Joe’s Café. She writes and produces original music in Toronto, where she currently resides, and is the recipient of two Western Canadian Music Awards. In her teens, she was a member of platinum award winning pop/R&B group, Sugar Jones.

    Kimberley thanks the Citadel for inviting her back! Her directing credits include Man and Superman, O’Flaherty, V.C. (Shaw Festival),The Color Purple (Neptune), How Black Mothers Say I Love You (GCTC), hang (with Philip Akin) (Obsidian). Choreography includes Matilda The Musical (RMTC/Citadel/Arts Club), Passing Strange (Musical Stage/Obsidian), Seussical: The Musical (YPT). As an actor, she has appeared on various stages across Canada, including the Shaw and Stratford Festivals. This year, she is the Intern Artistic Director at the Shaw Festival.

    Floydd Ricketts regularly works as a musical director in theatre and in concert. He is the conductor of the McGill University Choir, and Ensemble Noir, a 24-voiced Montreal choir that specializes in classical and folk music from the African diaspora.

    He regularly leads workshops on African-American Spiritual performance practice, and has worked with luminaries such as Joseph Joubert & Kathleen Battle. He recently finished an engagement as the music director and arranger for Centaur Theatre’s production of Choir Boy.

    Brian Perchaluk’s previous Citadel credits include: To Kill a Mockingbird, Humble Boy, and Guys and Dolls. His work has been featured on stages across the country, in Europe and the U.S., including two seasons at each the Shaw and Stratford Festivals and more than 75 productions for the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. Brian is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, and the recipient of Gemini, Jessie Richardson, Prix Rideau, and Evie Awards.

    Hugh Conacher is a lighting and multi-media designer, and a photographer. He has collaborated with choreographers, directors, visual artists, and dance and theatre companies throughout Canada and around the world, in venues large and small. He approaches each project as an individual work of art. His photographic work resides in private collections and has been published worldwide.

    Peter’s long history at the Citadel includes recent productions of Mamma Mia!, Crazy for You, Evangeline and Mary Poppins. Peter has worked at most of the major theatres in Canada, and in U.S. cities such as New York, Las Vegas, L.A., Boston, and Dallas. He lives in Stratford where he has spent 24 seasons at the Stratford Festival. His Broadway credits include Come Fly Away and Barrymore, and he has designed national tours including Sister Act and Catch Me If You Can.

    Known to Citadel audiences as a performer, Pat is a graduate of the University of Alberta's BFA Acting and MFA Directing programs. Pat's directing credits include: Ribbon, a one-woman show she wrote and performed for her thesis; The Syringa Tree, also a one-woman show she directed using voice techniques from her year of study at York University; Henry V and The Ash Girl at Concordia University College; and The Domino Heart at the Edmonton Fringe.

    Mukonzi Musyoki
    Dramaturg

    John Mukonzi Musyoki is a poet, playwright, theatre academic, director, and dramaturg. He is about to commence his PhD from the University of Alberta in Performance Studies this September. Mukonzi graduated from Kenyatta University in Kenya on July 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Linguistics and Literature. He later went on to do his Masters in the University of Alberta specializing in Post-colonial African Theatre. Musyoki has been in Canada for three years and has worked as a director, dramaturg, and a researcher for Workshop West Playwrights’ Theatre, Fringe Theatre, Timms Centre Studio Theatre, MAA and PAA Theatre, and the University of Alberta Drama Department. Mukonzi is very invested in the story of The Color Purple and he’s excited to be a part of the team through dramaturgy and educational outreach.

    Miranda is an Edmonton based actor and internationally touring escape artist. She has specialized experience in whip cracking, stunts, and stage combat. In 2018 she premiered her first theatre/escape art fusion, Whiskey Business, in which she was locked inside a full whiskey barrel (Found Festival) and was nominated for Best Actress (Sterling Awards) for her role as Lizzie in Pretty Goblins (Workshop West). Miranda is honored to be sharing her skills with this team.
