Question Where are Citadel performances held?

The Citadel Theatre is located at 9828-101A Ave. in the heart of downtown Edmonton, Alberta.
Our three main performing spaces are the Shoctor Theatre, the Maclab Theatre and the Rice Theatre.

Question How do I purchase tickets?

You can purchase Citadel Theatre tickets online, by phone or in person at the Box Office located at 9828-101A Ave.

  • Parking in the Canada Place and Library Parkades allows access to the Theatre through the Pedway.
  • PLEASE allow plenty of time to park before the show begins. Downtown Edmonton is often busy in the evening and spaces may be limited.

Question Where is the closest LRT station?

Churchill Station is located in the downtown pedway system. You can get off the train and travel indoors to the Citadel Theatre in just minutes.

Question Where can I get something to eat?

Question What should I wear?

There is no dress code. Anything that makes you feel comfortable is fine. Most people wear business clothes or slightly dressy casual clothes.

Question Cologne, perfumes and other scented products

In the interest of other patrons, please be considerate of those in the audience who may have allergies or chemical sensitivity, and refrain from wearing scented products such as cologne, perfume and other scented products.

Question Is the theatre wheelchair accessible?

Yes, all three of our performing spaces are wheelchair accessible.
Please let us know at the time you book your tickets if you will require a wheelchair location so that we may prepare for your visit.

Question Are hearing devices available?

We offer headsets to patrons with hearing difficulties. Ask the usher at the door to the theatre. These are provided free of charge in the Shoctor and Maclab Theatres. You will be asked to leave your driver's license as a deposit until the headset is returned at the end of the performance.

Question Can I bring my children?

The Citadel Theatre does not allow babes-in-arms or children under five years of age into our theatres. Please see individual play descriptions for specific age recommendations.

Question What number should I give the babysitter?

For emergencies only, you may call this number after hours: 780-970-4239.

Question Can I take photographs in the theatre?

Cameras and other recording devices are strictly prohibited by law in the theatre. This includes taking photographs with your cell phone.

Question What about cell phones?

Take a break from the outside world. Please turn off your cellphone and any other light- or sound-emitting digital devices that might disrupt the performance or disturb those seated around you.

Question What is your late seating policy?

We suggest that you plan to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. This will allow time to find parking, get to your seat, relax and read the playbill.

What if I am running late?
So as not to disturb other audience members, latecomers will be admitted at the “late call” and seated in the latecomers seats which are situated at the back of the theatre. You are welcome to move to your assigned seats at intermission.

Studies in Motion: The Hauntings of Eadweard Muybridge: The plays in the Rice Theatre Series are intended for mature audiences. Content and language may not be suitable for all patrons.
A Christmas Carol: Suitable for those 7 years of age and up.
August: Osage County: Extremely strong language, mature themes, smoking.
Another Home Invasion: The plays in the Rice Theatre Series are intended for mature audiences. Content and language may not be suitable for all patrons.
Hunchback: Suitable for those 12 years of age and up.
Rick: The Rick Hansen Story: Suitable for those 10 years of age and up

Question What happens if I miss a performance?

We do not refund or exchange tickets for missed performances.

Question What are my options if I lose my ticket?

If you lose your tickets to any performance, please call our Box Office before the performance and we will assist you.
