The Citadel

The Citadel Theatre is recognized as a leader in Canadian theatre. We produce work of the highest quality, premiere new plays, develop the skills of professional artists, invest in youth and families and contribute to the quality of life in the Edmonton community.

The Citadel Theatre houses five performing spaces and offers 12 plays and a professional theatre program.

A registered charitable organization, the Citadel also operates a year-round theatre school.

Metro Cinema Metro Cinema is a community-based non-profit society devoted to the exhibition and promotion of Canadian, international and independent film and video in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

To this end, Metro exhibits an eclectic blend of film, video and media arts that are not screened anywhere else in the city. Metro’s focus is on presenting a broad selection of educational, cultural and innovative works. The Society operates with the ongoing assistance of a large volunteer base. We regularly distribute a program, facilitate discussion, and bring in artists.

Wheelchair Access

Our theatres have a limited number of wheelchair positions for mobility-reduced patrons. Please request wheelchair seating when purchasing your tickets.

Hearing Enhancement

We offer headsets to patrons with hearing difficulties. Ask the usher at the door to the theatre. These are provided free of charge. You will be asked to leave your driver's license as a deposit until the headset is returned at the end of the performance. Available in the Shoctor and Maclab theatres.

Washrooms

Washroom facilities are open for every performance. Please ask an usher for directions.

Babies and Young Children

The Citadel Theatre does not allow babes-in-arms or children under 5 years of age into our theatres. Please see individual play descriptions for specific age recommendations. A Christmas Carol is not suitable for children under 7 years of age.

The majority of our plays are intended for adult audiences. Please check with our Box Office if you have any concerns or require additional information.

Gift Certificates

Looking for a unique gift? Citadel Theatre Gift Certificates are available in any denomination and have no expiry date. The recipient can pick the play they want to see — a perfect fit every time. Gift certificates can be purchased at our Box Office or online.

Preparing For Your Visit to the Citadel Theatre

LATE SEATING: We endeavour to minimize the inconvenience to our patrons and the actors when seating latecomers. If you arrive late for a performance, you will be seated at the first appropriate moment in the designated latecomer seating. You are welcome to move to your assigned seat at intermission. If you must leave the theatre during a performance you will not be allowed to return to your seat until intermission.

CHILDREN: The Citadel Theatre does not allow babes-in-arms or children under five years of age into our theatres. Please see individual play descriptions for specific age recommendations.

AUDIENCE ADVISORIES: Some of our plays are intended for mature audiences. Please check with our Box Office if you require additional information regarding the content of any of our plays.

RECORDING DEVICES: Video or still cameras, and all other recording devices are not permitted at any of the productions.

PAGERS AND CELL PHONES: To prevent disrupting the performance we ask that all pagers and cell phones are turned off or
set to vibrate.

PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE of patrons who have allergies to perfumes or colognes.

Exchanges

On occasion, you may find it necessary to exchange your tickets for a different day or time. Call our Box Office at 780-425-1820
to find out how you can exchange your tickets.

Lost Tickets

As a subscriber, if you lose your tickets to any performance, please call our Box Office before the performance and we will prepare a duplicate set.

Missed Performances

We do not refund or exchange tickets for missed performances. If you are unable to use your tickets, we suggest giving them
Box Office at least 24 hours prior to the performance and exchanging them for another date.

To our valued subscribers we offer a tax-deductible receipt for unusable tickets up to 24 hours before the show.
