Young Playwriting Company Program Dates and Information:

* While this program is designed for participants aged 16 – 21, applicants to the Young Playwriting Company who are older than 21 years of age will be considered on a case by case basis.

• Deadline for application: SEPTEMBER 1st
• This program facilitates script development under the mentorship of established playwrights.
• Classes meet Tuesdays from 6:00pm – 10:00pm (no classes on public holidays).
• Training (Part I): October 18 through December 13; and (Part II) January 17 through May 29, 2012.

Regular coursework with resident and guest playwrights, dramaturges and directors.

Alternating regular coursework with “writing weeks” when students will work independently on their plays.

• Staged Readings: June 4 & 5, 2012

Staged Readings of plays worked on by students in class. Will be staged in the Rice Theatre.

• Final day of program: Wednesday May 30, 2012 for evaluations and feedback.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Bevin Dooley. Bevin was a member of the Young Playwriting Company during the 2010/11 season. Her play The Playmates has been chosen to be in the New Works Festival 2012 at the UofA.
