Stamina, Strength and Agility of Body, Mind and Heart
Audience outreach activities deepen our audience’s appreciation of our productions, their theatre experience and enable them to act as excellent ambassadors for the Citadel Theatre and the arts. These activities include the Maclab Enterprises Students Club; Seniors Club; pre-show and post-show chats; school matinee performances; play guides; and our annual Open House, tours of our facilities and presentations by various theatre artists.
“To have my toughest grade nine boys thrilled with live theatre is priceless. The students talked about the lighting, symbolism, and movement on the bus ride home as I eavesdropped. Hats off to the cast and crew for an outstanding production, and to the staff and leadership at the Citadel for making such fine arts accessible to kids.” –Fred Antoniw, teacher: Westmount Junior High

Students Club Evenings take place on Tuesday or Wednesday evening shows. Students arrive at 6pm for a light supper ready to attend their 30 minute pre-show activity at 6:30pm. The show begins at 7:30pm. Immediately after the show, students are invited to attend a talk-back with the actors of the show. If this discussion coincides with the general public’s Talkback Tuesday, the two are held concurrently. Depending on the running time of the show, most Students Club evenings end around 10:30pm.
Students Club Shows for the 2011/12 Season:
The general public are welcome to attend the second Tuesday of each of our Mainstage and Rice Alternative Series plays to participate in a post-show discussion with members of the cast. This is a very special evening, and provides a rare glimpse into the actors lives and the process they undertake to create a character on stage.
This is a special subscription package catered toward seniors to enjoy the Thursday matinee performances in our Mainstage Series. Many attendees add the optional lunch and pre-show presentation to enhance their theatre experience.
All of the plays in our Robbins Family Series and select plays in our Mainstage Series have weekday matinee performances available for school groups. We believe that all young people should have the opportunity to experience, appreciate, and participate in live theatre. There are study guides available for download to enhance the students’ viewing and knowledge of the play.
