DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
The Citadel Theatre, one of Canada’s largest and busiest professional, not-for-profit theatre companies and facilities, is looking for a Director of Finance to join our management team on July 1, 2012. The Citadel is a very active, not-for-profit theatre producing an annual season of seven plays plus our seasonal production of A Christmas Carol. The Citadel is also home to the Robbins Academy which encompasses our five creative development programs: Play Development, the Citadel/Banff Centre Professional Theatre Program, Foote Theatre School, Citadel Young Companies and Audience Outreach.
Role:
The Director of Finance has primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial matters for the Citadel Theatre.
Qualifications:
- Working towards or completion of a professional accounting designation or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in the not for profit sector is an asset
- Knowledge of ACCPAC an asset
- High level of integrity and dependability
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day management of the Accounting Department and Accounting Department personnel to include but not limited to, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, bank reconciliations, monthly accounts which will include department cost reports, forecasts, cashflows, budgets, feasibility studies, ad-hoc reports and forecasts, preparation of the annual financial statements.
- Participate in the preparation of operating and capital budgets for all areas of the Citadel’s operations;
- Participate in short-term and long-term planning initiatives, providing overall financial guidance.
- Develop and provide, as required, financial reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
- Be the principal contact for the Citadel’s bankers and auditors;
- Oversee and implement the ongoing development of accounting systems.
- Co-ordinate box office system improvements including, but not limited to, systems for accounting, cash control, and management reporting.
- Record subscription and casual sales, rentals, donations, sponsors and ancillary giving and any other record keeping as determined to be relevant to the ongoing wellbeing of the Citadel Theatre.
- Ensure effective internal controls are in place.
- Coordinate audits and ensure the proper and timely filing of tax returns and all other legal and regulatory compliance regarding financial functions.
- Be aware of the agreements in place at the Citadel Theatre and, when required, work effectively with the agreements, i.e. IATSE (production crew), Canadian Theatre Agreement (Equity), Associated Designers of Canada, AF of M (musicians).
- Support the Board of Directors Audit and Finance Committee
- Oversee and ensure appropriate IT systems are in place
Required Skills:

- Strong interpersonal communication skills, including exemplary written and verbal skills
- Ability to develop organizational policies and procedures, considering organization-wide issues and opportunities

MANAGER, CORPORATE RELATIONS
The Citadel Theatre (Edmonton, Alberta) is seeking a Manager of Corporate Relations to join our dynamic team. We are looking for an outgoing, well-spoken, organized, and self-motivated person with proven success in revenue generation. The candidate must be a great networker and have excellent presentation skills. He/she must understand the importance of the arts and be able to communicate a compelling reason for a corporation to support the Citadel Theatre. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Development, this is a full-time, year-round position.
Duties include:
- Engage and build relationships with corporations to the benefit of both organizations
- Develop strategies to gain and enhance the interest and involvement of potential sponsors, partners and other supporters
- Meet or exceed budgeted goals for sponsorship and other corporate revenue
- Ensure appropriate sponsor recognition
- Develop sponsorship benefits and ensure that these benefits are fulfilled
- Work with the business community to encourage group sales, etc.
- Maintain relationship with existing companies in the Corporate Benefit Program, administer and grow the program
- Create materials as needed
- Represent the Citadel at corporate events
Assets:
- Experience in corporate giving in the not for profit sector or corporate community relations
- University graduate
- Experience in the arts and a passion for theatre
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Outlook)
- Ability to thrive in a continually changing, fast-paced environment and work with a diversity of people, productions, events and situations
- Excellent networking skills
- Ability to meet revenue generation goals
- Ability to work nights and weekends, as required

FOOTE THEATRE SCHOOL INSTRUCTORS
The Citadel Theatre is looking for experienced performing arts teachers and theatre professionals for part-time positions with the Foote Theatre School.
The Foote Theatre School is the oldest and largest theatre school in Edmonton. Since 1966 we have provided year round classes for all ages and experience levels, teaching physical, technical and creative skills in both acting and musical theatre. Over 1,000 students annually are taught by our faculty of 25 local theatre professionals. If you have any of the following qualifications and are interested in joining our team please apply!

- Experience teaching acting or musical theatre for children ages 6-16
- Experience as a musical director with children, teens and adults
- Experience teaching in theatre education settings for all ages
