Youth Auditions – Call for Extras

YOUTH AUDITIONS

The Citadel Theatre is looking for youth actors from 8 to 15 years old to perform in our production of A Christmas Carol.

Parents and potential youth auditioners need to read and understand the following information:

1. Actors must be available for the following:

• Rehearsal: November 13 to 25 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (Monday is the day off). Actors will not be called all day, every day, but must be available to come when needed.
• Technical (on-stage) Rehearsal: From November 27 to December 6 (except Monday): nine intense days of rehearsing and/or performing, for two four-hour periods each day. Everyone in the cast will be called.
• Run of the show: December 7 to 23; eight performances per week, Tuesday to Sunday with matinees on some school days. Everyone is required for every show.

2. Note to parents regarding auditions and callbacks:

While we try to ensure that our auditions are a rewarding experience for all actors, it is each parent’s responsibility to ensure your youth understands that an audition or callback is not a guarantee she/he will be offered a role. Directors base their choices on many factors including age and size. Please be very sure that your youth does not have unrealistic expectations about being in our show.

3. Process for booking an audition:

If you want your youth to audition, please email Peni Christopher at pchristopher@citadeltheatre.com. She will give you details of the audition including time, date, location and what to prepare. Complete the information on the following page and bring it to the audition with an up-to-date photo (that really looks like your child) and a short resume of his/her relevant theatre experience.

AUDITION CALL FOR EXTRAS

The Citadel Theatre is accepting resumes for Equity Extras from Edmonton-based CAEA members for three roles (two males and one female) in our seasonal production of A Christmas Carol.

Must be available for rehearsal from November 13 to 29, 2012 and performance from November 30 to December 23, 2012.

The specific character traits are:

• Male 1 is a slender, elegant father, above average height who appears to be about 40 years old or older.
• Male 2 is slender, elegant nephew, above average height who appears to be about 25 years old.
• The female is average height and weight and will appear in limited song and dance sequences so should have some singing and movement skills; appears to be over 55 years of age.

Note: Extras must be Edmonton-based — travel and/or accommodation will not be offered. Remuneration will be Equity minimum for “A” category Extras.
