“The evening exists as a whole. You enter a very believable world. At the other end, you return to your life, having been touched by something truly wonderful. And if I sound like I'm a bit carried away here — well, yes I am. But talk to anyone who has seen it, better yet, go yourself. You'll be glad you did ” –Colin Maclean, Edmonton Sun
“Spectacular Christmas Carol works ghostly, seasonal magic.” –Liz Nicholls, Edmonton Journal
“This remains the best stage version I've ever seen of Dickens' classic … I defy you not to be dazzled.” –Liz Nicholls, Edmonton Journal
“A spectacular theatrical spectacle filled with energy and heart.” –Gilbert A. Bouchard
“Nine years ago we attempted to pull off an incredibly ambitious project. That it all came together that first time was a miracle. That it continues to thrill us after nine years is a true gift for all.” –Bob Baker
The message of A Christmas Carol is as important and relevant today as when it was first published in 1843. The gap between rich and poor continues to widen in Canada and around the world.
Among developed countries, Canada ranks fourth worst for child poverty. This year, Edmonton’s Food Bank will be recognizing 25 years of Christmas campaigns, both a milestone for this organization and a blemish for our boom times in Alberta.
For the past seven years, audiences attending A Christmas Carol at the Citadel have donated a total of $330,202.27 to the Edmonton Food Bank.
Members of the cast will again be accepting donations of cash and food following each performance with 100% of the funds collected going straight to the Food Bank.
