The Citadel is committed to producing world-class theatre with each and every one of our shows. We want the theatre to be a magical experience for audiences of all ages. Over the past few years we have presented full-scale productions for families and young audiences on our main stages. With shows like DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, PETER PAN, HANA’S SUITCASE, OLIVER! and our seasonal classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL, we have provided meaningful, memorable and inspiring experiences for all.
Through programs like Students Club, School Matinees, Teens @ The Turn and our Theatre School, we have successfully encouraged young audience participation and these programs have grown beyond our expectations. We must keep these productions and programs affordable for all in order to continue exposing the younger generation to the arts. Your involvement means the world to us. Thank you for considering making a donation.
As a registered charity we rely on donations from our generous patrons to allow us to continue to stage high quality and meaningful productions for a large and varied audience and provide exciting theatre experiences for all.
As one of Canada’s leading not for profit theatres, we feel a strong responsibility to foster this community’s involvement in the arts. We know we can achieve this by investing funds back into programs that benefit our young audiences.
In addition to those programs we offer Saturday pre-show chats, Talk Back Tuesdays, backstage tours and playbill production notes which provide opportunities to enrich the theatre experience for all audience members.
It is important to nurture, develop and produce original Canadian work. It is vital to the growth of the art form and we are thrilled to be able to share new work with our audiences. The Citadel has committed to producing two world premieres annually.
We are very proud to have been a part of this city’s vibrant arts community for over 40 years and, with your help, we look forward to 40 more!
Thank you for your support.

Tax Incentives for Donating
There are new Government of Alberta incentives for charitable donations:
- The Enhanced Charitable Tax Credit became effective January 1, 2007. Alberta’s tax credit has increased by more than 60 percent for total annual charitable donations over $200.
- When combined with the federal charitable tax credit, Albertans will now receive a 50 cent tax credit for every dollar donated over the $200 threshold.
- This increase gives Alberta one of the highest charitable tax credits in Canada.
There have been major changes relating to capital gains when donating to a registered charity:
- Donors no longer pay income tax on capital gains when publicly traded securities are donated to a registered charity.
- The donor also received a donation receipt for the full amount of the market value of the securities.
